This song reminds me of sitting up on the roof of an old apartment in the pouring rain, sobbing gutturally and feeling very sorry for myself. Just awful. The song itself doesn't make me sad -- it's such a beautiful song -- but it reminds me of feeling really helpless and hopeless. Naturally, it reminds me of a man and a series of wonderful memories and some of the worst heartbreak I've ever experienced. The kind of heartbreak that you never think you'll survive but you do. And I did. But hearing this song always brings me back there just for a second and, for the most part, I'm happy to have such a strong bond with music that it can pull me through time like it does.
