The Master (2012) #trailer

When I watch movie trailers I often put them in one of three categories in my mind; 'to see', 'that's neat. I'll watch it when it's available on dvd' or, the best case scenario, 'what?! What on Earth is this about? Is this based on something? I must know more!' followed by 20 minutes of IMDB and Wikipedia searches.This movie very squarely falls into the last category.

A 1950s-set drama centered on the relationship between a charismatic intellectual known as "the Master" whose faith-based organization begins to catch on in America, and a young drifter who becomes his right-hand man.

And what of the director - Paul Thomas Anderson (who I feel I should know, but can't quite place)?

Oh yeah! That Paul Thomas Anderson -- producer, director, writer for hits like There Will Be Blood (2007), Magnolia (1999), Boogie Nights (1997), and Punch Drunk Love (2002). Okay, now I'm definitely in.
