The Ontario Science Centre celebrated 45 years of inspiring curiosity, discovery and innovation by opening its doors for free admission on Sunday, September 28, 2014. The fifth annual Community Day was sponsored by TELUS. The Toronto All Stars Steel Orchestra, under the direction of Salmon Cupid, provided the music for the official welcome for the birthday celebration. Everyone enjoyed the entertainment, planetarium and paper-making demonstrations along with the interactive displays. There were lots of opportunities to learn and explore by interacting with the displays and presenters. There are many new displays including topical exhibitions like The Science of Rock 'N' Roll. The Omnimax Theatre hosts 2 stunning shows for an extra fee. There are 6 levels going into the valley. Level 4 has KidSpark for a variety of children activities and Space with displays of meteorites and a planetarium. Level 5 covers "A Question of Truth" for exploring how beliefs and biases can influence scientific research. It includes Learning Centres and the Dupont Canada Labs. Level 6 includes the Weston Family Innovation Centre for experimenting with new materials and media tools and problem solving challenges. The Living Earth has a rain forest filled with plants and animals. The Science Arcade includes puzzles, games and fun challenges. The AstraZeneca Human Edge shows the wonders of the human body. The Special Exhibition Hall is featuring "The Science of Rock "N" Roll" Their vision: Inspiring a lifelong journey of curiosity, discovery and action to create a better future for the planet.
